Installation
Install the Novela theme and activate required plugins.
A few things to know before you start:
- Upload the inner zip. The theme zip lives inside the ThemeForest package - uploading the outer package triggers a
style.css not founderror. - Install all recommended plugins. After activating the theme, accept the TGM prompt and install every recommended plugin. Missing plugins (especially ACF Pro and the Subsolar Novela Book Post Type) break core functionality.
- The theme won't look like the demo yet. Demo content is a separate step - see Content and the FAQ for the XML import and homepage setup.
- ACF Pro can't auto-update. It's a bundled premium plugin: new versions ship with theme updates.
Unzip the downloaded package. You can install the theme in one of the following ways:
- FTP - copy the non-zipped folder in the /wp-content/themes/ directory in the WordPress installation of your server.
- Upload - Go to Appearance > Themes in the admin dashboard, click the Add New button, then Upload Theme and choose the zipped file with the theme.
If you get a
style.cssnot found error, make sure you are uploading the correct file. It's important to know that the file you have to install is the one inside the downloaded package.
After that go to Appearance > Themes and click Activate on the theme. After activation a warning about the plugins that are required will be shown at the top:
Click on Begin Installing Plugins.
Check all of them, select Install from the dropdown menu and click Apply. A message that the plugins are installed successfully should be displayed. After that go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, select and activate them.
