Important things to know
Here are some behaviors worth knowing upfront so nothing surprises you later.
Products and WooCommerce
- Products priced at $0 display as "Free": the theme overrides WooCommerce's default price display. A product with a price of 0 (or blank) shows "Free" instead of "$0.00". If you leave the price blank entirely, the product displays "Free" and isn't purchasable.
- The Reviews tab is moved, not removed: the review form still works, it just appears below the product content instead of in a tab.
- Product image sizes are set automatically: on first activation the theme sets 400×400 for catalog, 700×700 for single product, and 120×120 for thumbnails. You can override these under WooCommerce > Settings > Products.
- Shop layout changes based on sidebar: with a sidebar widget, the shop shows 3 products per row; without, it shows 4.
Navigation and menus
- Login/Register link is added automatically: if WooCommerce is active and the Profile Menu Item isn't hidden, a Login/Register link is appended to the right navigation menu. Logged-in users see their username with a dropdown for Profile and Log Out.
- Cart icon visibility: by default the cart icon only appears when items are in the cart. Enable Always Show Cart Button in Theme Settings > WooCommerce to show it at all times.
- Login redirect: users who click Login from any page are returned there after signing in.
Events
- Events require the Subsolar Designs Extras plugin: the Events custom post type lives in the plugin, not the theme itself. Deactivate the plugin and Events disappear from admin and frontend.
- Google Maps need an API key: event maps and the contact page map won't load until you enter a Google API Key in Theme Settings > General.
Theme settings and plugins
- ACF Pro is bundled and required: it powers the theme settings panel and every custom field (events, contacts, products, page options). Without it, nothing works.
- Theme Settings sync between panels: if you're a legacy user with both Unyson and ACF active, changes in one panel sync to the other. You only need to configure one.
- Elementor global styles are set on theme activation: the theme configures Elementor's global colors and typography to match the design the first time it's activated or the demo is imported. Tweak them afterwards in Elementor > Site Settings.
- The block widgets editor is disabled: we use the classic widgets panel at Appearance > Widgets for compatibility with the theme's custom widgets.
Content and pages
- Full Width and Hide Title options only appear on pages using the default page template - not Blog, Events, or Contact templates.
- Password-protected posts have a custom-styled password form that matches the theme.
- Decorative first letters (drop caps) can be toggled in Theme Settings > Style (Unyson panel only). They're on by default. On ACF/Elementor sites the drop caps are always active.
